Dogs on the Beach
🌊 Hampton Beach State Park / Main Beach
Pets are not allowed on the beach from May 1 to September 30. Pets are allowed on the beach from October 1 to April 30. Animals must be on a standard or retractable leash not greater than 6 feet in length.
🏖️ Town-Owned Beaches: Sun Valley & Plaice Cove
The Town of Hampton directly owns and manages two specific beach areas, while the vast majority of the main sandy beach is managed by the state.
- Sun Valley Beach: A quiet, town-owned beach located along Route 1A just south of the Hampton/Seabrook bridge. It's a popular "no-frills" spot for swimming and fishing. View on Maps
- Plaice Cove: A small, quiet, town-owned beach located along Route 1A on the north side of North Beach, offering a sandy alternative to the main beach. (Note: Very rocky, not ideal for dogs but it is an option) View on Maps
Seasonal Access
From Memorial Day through Labor Day, leashed dogs are welcome before 8 a.m. and after 6 p.m.
During the off-season, leashed dogs are permitted on these town-owned beaches at any time.
